Pump, Engine Oil: Inspection

- Remove the timing chain cover and oil pan. Refer to COVER(S), ENGINE TIMING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Measure the distance between the tensioner body and the guide shoe as shown.
- If the distance is 10.1 mm (0.397 in.) or greater, replace the balance shaft/oil pump chain. Refer to CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, TIMING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
