Description And Operation
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Jeep Renegade. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The vane-type vacuum pump is mounted to the rear of the cylinder head and is driven by the camshaft. The vacuum pump supplies vacuum to the brake booster. The pump is an aluminum body with a plastic vacuum connector fitting. The vacuum connector fitting is serviceable by itself; if the connector fitting is damaged, it must be replaced. If the fitting is removed from the pump, the O-ring must be replaced; service fittings include a new O-ring pre-installed. If the vacuum pump is removed from the engine, the two O-ring seals must be replaced; these are available as a service kit.
