Removal And Installation: Removal

- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the engine cover and the clean air hose. Refer to
HOSE, CLEAN AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the hose (1) from the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve.
- Remove the ignition coils. Refer to COIL, IGNITION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the three wire harness tray retainers (2) from the intake side of the cylinder head cover and reposition the wire harness tray (1).
- Remove the three wire harness tray retainers (4) from the exhaust side of the cylinder head cover and reposition the wire harness tray (3).
- Clean the cylinder head cover prior to removal.
- Remove thirteen bolts, six stud-bolts (1) and the cylinder head cover.
- Remove and discard the outer cylinder head cover gasket (1) and the tube gaskets (2) from the cover.
- If required, remove the engine cover ball studs (1) and the PCV valve (2).
- If required, loosen the CLIC E®
type clamp (2) using the (special tool #10288, Pliers, Hose Clamp) and remove the make up air hose (1) from the cylinder head cover fitting
