Removal And Installation: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the engine cover and the clean air hose. Refer to HOSE, CLEAN AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  3. Remove the hose (1) from the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve.

  4. Remove the ignition coils. Refer to COIL, IGNITION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Remove the three wire harness tray retainers (2) from the intake side of the cylinder head cover and reposition the wire harness tray (1).
  6. Remove the three wire harness tray retainers (4) from the exhaust side of the cylinder head cover and reposition the wire harness tray (3).

  7. Clean the cylinder head cover prior to removal.
  8. Remove thirteen bolts, six stud-bolts (1) and the cylinder head cover.

  9. Remove and discard the outer cylinder head cover gasket (1) and the tube gaskets (2) from the cover.

  10. If required, remove the engine cover ball studs (1) and the PCV valve (2).

  11. If required, loosen the CLIC E®  type clamp (2) using the (special tool #10288, Pliers, Hose Clamp) and remove the make up air hose (1) from the cylinder head cover fitting
