Camshaft Endplay

NOTE:

Typical camshaft endplay measurement shown

  1. Remove the cylinder head cover. Refer to CYLINDER HEAD, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  .
  2. Mount a dial indicator (1) to a stationary point at the front of the engine. Locate the probe perpendicular against the nose of the camshaft.
  3. Move the camshaft all the way to the rear of its travel.
  4. Zero the dial indicator.
  5. Move the camshaft forward to the limit of travel and read the dial indicator. Compare the measured end play to the specification. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS  .
