CAUTION:
Do not rotate the crankshaft using the damper bolt. The bolt has left-hand threads and can be inadvertently loosened resulting in loss of camshaft timing. Only rotate the damper itself in a clockwise direction (as viewed from the front).
- Install the vibration damper on the crankshaft and push the pin into the damper hole to prevent the damper from rotating on the crankshaft while tightening the damper bolt.
- Install the NEW damper bolt and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Remove the (special tool #2064000090, Locking, Pulley), (special tool #2063600090, Pin, Flywheel Locking) and (special tool #2063500090, Locking, Camshaft) timing tools.
- Using the
(special tool #2069100090, Holder, Front Damper 3 Pin)
, rotate the crankshaft clockwise (as viewed from the front) through two complete revolutions and refit the timing tools to verify correct camshaft timing.
- Position the pipe and engage the clip to the frame rail.
- Position the support bracket with the pipes and securely tighten the bolt.
- Install the dust shield (1a) and tighten the bolts (1b) securing the gearbox to the engine to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the vacuum pump. Refer to PUMP, VACUUM, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Install the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
NOTE:
The damper bolt is a left-hand thread.
