Remove Cylinder Head And Oil Pan For Inspection - 1.3L

  1. Remove the engine from the vehicle and place on maintenance stand. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  .

  2. Remove the catalytic converter collar bolt (1).

  3. Remove the bolts (1a) and the nuts (1b), and remove the upper catalytic converter mounting bracket (1c).

  4. Remove the nuts (1) from the exhaust pipe flange.
  5. Remove the bolts (2) securing the catalytic converter support bracket to the crankcase.
  6. Remove the bolts (3) from the side mounting brackets.

  7. Remove the catalytic converter assembly (1).

  8. Remove the plug (1) and drain the engine oil.

  9. Disconnect the electrical connection (1) from the turbocharger intake air temperature sensor.
  10. Disconnect the quick coupling (2) for the oil vapor pipe.
  11. Loosen the band clamp (3) and remove the turbocharger air intake pipe.

  12. Disconnect the electrical connection (1) from the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor.

  13. Disconnect the electrical connection (1) from the engine coolant heating coil.
  14. Disengage the wiring from the retainer (2).

  15. Disconnect the electrical connection (1) from the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
  16. Disconnect the electrical connection (2) from the pressure pump.

  17. Disengage the wiring from the retainer (1).

  18. Remove the bolts (1) and disconnect the ground wires.

  20. Disconnect the electrical connections (1) from the Multiair actuators.
  21. Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor electrical connection (2).
  22. Disconnect the electrical connection (3) from the Multiair module oil temperature sensor.
  23. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connections (4).

  24. Disconnect the electrical connection from the throttle body (1a) and release the wiring from the retainer (1b).

  25. Disconnect the electrical connection for the evaporative purge valve (1a) and release the wiring from the retainer (1b).

  26. Disconnect the air temperature and pressure sensor electrical connection (1).
  27. Release the wiring from the intermediate retainers.

  29. Disconnect the electrical connection (1) from the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor.

  31. Disconnect the electrical connections (1) from the knock sensors.
  32. Disengage the wiring from the retainer (2).

  35. Disconnect the electrical connection (2) from the oil pressure sensor.
  36. Disconnect the engine oil pump displacement control solenoid valve electrical connection (3).

  38. Disengage the wiring from the retainers (1).

  39. Disconnect the electrical connection for the air temperature sensor (1a) and release the wiring from the retainer (1b).
  40. Disconnect the electrical connection for the air supercharging sensor (2) and release the wiring from the retainer (1b).

  41. Disconnect the turbocharger actuator electrical connection (1).
  42. Disengage the wiring from the retainer (2).
  43. Disconnect the electrical connection (3) from the turbocharger by-pass solenoid valve.

  45. Disengage the engine wire harness (1) from the retainer and remove it.

  46. Install the (special tool #2063700090, Locking, Crankshaft) timing tool (1).

  48. Use a wrench on the bolt (1a) to rotate the belt tensioner (1b) and remove the engine accessory drive belt (1c).

  66. Loosen the nuts (1) and remove the high pressure fuel pipe from the pressure pump and fuel rail.

  71. Rotate the engine 180° on the maintenance stand.

  73. Using the 1870718000 tool (1), cut the silicone sealant along the entire perimeter of the engine oil pan.

  74. Remove the bolts (1) and the windage tray.

  76. Install the (special tool #2063500090, Locking, Camshaft) timing tool (1) on the vacuum pump mounting surface and securely tighten the bolts.

  77. Install the (special tool #2064000090, Locking, Pulley) tool (1) above the damper pulley and securely tighten the bolts.
    78. NOTE:

    The damper bolt has a left-hand thread.

  78. Remove the damper bolt (2).
  79. Remove the damper pulley (3) from the crankshaft.

  87. Install the (special tool #2027207090, Tab, 90 Degree), (special tool #2020001090, Adapter, Multi Air Spring Compressor), Stand-Off Adapter 2020000091 to the (special tool #10259B, Compressor, MultiAir® Spring) (1) on the Multiair module and compress the plates.
