Disassembly And Assembly: Overhaul: Assembly

  1. Use the 1860993000 tool to fit the new valve guide seals on the valve guides.
  2. Install the valves, springs, spring retainers and retainer locks using the same equipment as for the disassembly.
  3. Install the thermostat with a NEW  O-ring and tighten the bolts to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  4. Install the high pressure fuel pump complete with roller tappet onto the cylinder head and tighten the bolts to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  5. Install and securely tighten the Multiair actuator oil supply filter.
  6. Install the camshaft position (CMP) sensor with heat shield and securely tighten the bolt.
  7. Remove the cylinder head from the Cylinder Head Overhaul Support 1860470000.
  8. Check that the camshaft journals and the cam lift are within the specified values. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS  .
  9. Install the cylinder head. Refer to CYLINDER HEAD, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  .
