Removal And Installation: Installation

  1. Install a NEW  VVAA gasket (1) on the cylinder head.
  2. If the dowel/locating pins (2) were removed, install two NEW  VVAA locating pins.
  3. Install two (special tool #2025300090, Alignment Pins, Multiair to Cylinder Head) into the cylinder head over the two centering pins (2).

  4. Install the VVAA (1) on the cylinder head using the alignment pins as a guide for the correct mating between the VVAA module pistons and the valves.
  5. Install the bolts, working in diagonal order and without tightening fully, to bring the module into contact with the cylinder head, then remove the alignment pins and fit the remaining bolts without tightening.
  6. Using the sequence shown, tighten the Variable Valve Actuation Assembly bolts to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  7. Remove the tools used to compress the springs on the VVAA.
  8. Connect and lock the four VVAA wire harness connectors.
  9. Connect and lock the oil temperature sensor wire harness connector.
  10. Install the cylinder head cover. Refer to COVER(S), CYLINDER HEAD, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  .
