Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
    3. NOTE: A front door must remain open whenever checking or erasing Radio DTCs. 
    4. With the scan tool, record and erase the Radio DTCs.
    5. Cycle the ignition switch from on to off, wait five seconds and then back to on.
    6. With the scan tool, read the Radio DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Go to  2

      No 

  2. CHECK THE USB/MEDIA PORT CABLE 
    1. Disconnect the USB/Media port cable at the Radio.
    2. Disconnect the USB/Media port cable at the USB/Media port.
    3. From the 9977-6-11 Radio Antenna Diagnostic Kit (special tool #9977-6-11, Kit, USB Mini-B - 4 and 5 Wire) connect the appropriate length adapter cable between the Radio and USB Port.
    4. With the scan tool, erase the Radio DTCs.
    5. Cycle the ignition switch from on to off, wait five seconds and then back to on.
    6. With the scan tool, read the Radio DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

      • Replace the USB hub / Media Port Cable for damage.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. CHECK THE RADIO 
    1. Replace the USB hub / Media Port in accordance with Service Information. Refer to MEDIA HUB, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
    2. With the scan tool, erase the Radio DTCs.
    3. Cycle the ignition switch from on to off, wait five seconds and then back to on.
    4. With the scan tool, read the Radio DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      No
