Sensor, Pinch: Removal

  1. Open the liftgate (2).
  2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the lower trim from the liftgate inner panel. Refer to PANEL, TRIM, REMOVAL .
  4. Reach through the access hole in the liftgate inner panel to access and disconnect the pinch sensor pigtail wire connector (4) from the liftgate wire harness connector (3).
  5. Disengage the five plastic retainers of the pinch sensor (1) from the liftgate shut face.
  6. Disengage the pigtail wire grommet on the lower end of the pinch sensor from the clearance hole in the liftgate shut face.
  7. While guiding the pigtail wire out through the clearance hole, remove the pinch sensor from the liftgate.
