Diagnostic Test

- DTC IS ACTIVE NOTE:
If DTCs P20FA, P20FC, or P20FD are present, perform the Diagnostics for those DTCs before continuing with this one.
NOTE:If there are any other DEF Supply Pump DTCs present, perform the Diagnostics for those DTCs before continuing with this one.
Ignition on, engine not running.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
- Start the engine and allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature.
- Monitor the scan tool for at least two minutes.
- With the scan tool, select View DTCs.
Is the status Active for this DTC?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
- CHECK THE DEF PUMP SUPPLY/PURGE LINES FOR LEAKS
- Turn the ignition off.
- Visually inspect the DEF Pump Supply/Purge lines for leaks.
Are there any leaks present?
Yes
- Repair the DEF Pump Supply/Purge line(s) that are leaking. Then, begin this Diagnostics again starting with the 'DTC IS ACTIVE' Test Step.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- DEF PUMP
- Replace the DEF Pump in accordance with the service information.
- Ignition on, engine not running.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
- Start the engine.
- Allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature.
- Monitor the scan tool for at least two minutes.
- With the scan tool, select View DTCs.
Is the status Active for this DTC?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Test Complete.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
- POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE
- Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors between the DEF Pump and the Powertrain Control Module.
- Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
- Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals.
- Perform any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
