Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, record all Freeze frame data.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for 75 seconds.
- Turn the ignition on, run the engine to operating temperatureNOTE:
It may be necessary to drive the vehicle under normal conditions to activate the SCR system.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC reset?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform to the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
- CHECK FOR A DEF HEATER DTC
- Refer to the recorded DTCs.
Is DTC P05ED-00 active or pending?
Yes
- Perform the applicable diagnostic procedure for P05ED-00 before continuing with this Diagnostic. When P05ED-00 is repaired, P204F-00 may not return. Perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting Procedure. Refer to PRE-DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE .
No
- Go To 3
- Refer to the recorded DTCs.
- CHECK FOR OTHER DEF PUMP DTCS NOTE:
Verify that the DEF level in the DEF Tank is not too low before beginning this Diagnostic.
- Refer to the recorded DTCs.
Are there any other DEF Supply Pump DTCs or DEF Purge Pump DTCs active or pending?
Yes
- Perform the applicable diagnostic procedure(s). Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX .
No
- Go To 4
- Refer to the recorded DTCs.
- CHECK FUSE F59 FOR AN OPEN
- Turn the ignition on.
- Check Fuse F59-10A for an open.
Is the Fuse open?
Yes
- Replace Fuse F59-10A. Then, refer to the Wiring Information and determine where the short circuit is that may have caused the open Fuse.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 5
- INSTALL A KNOWN GOOD SCR RELAY #1
- Turn the ignition off.
- Remove the SCR Relay #1 (in the Auxiliary Power Distribution Center) and install a known good relay.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
- Turn the ignition on, run the engine to operating temperatureNOTE:
It may be necessary to drive the vehicle under normal conditions to activate the SCR system.
- With the scan tool, select View DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 6
No
- Replace the SCR Relay #1 in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE DEF PUMP SUPPLY/PURGE LINES FOR LEAKS
- Turn the ignition off.
- Visually inspect the DEF Pump Supply/Purge lines for leaks.
Are there any leaks present?
Yes
- Repair the DEF Pump Supply/Purge line(s) that are leaking. Then, begin this Diagnostic Tree again starting with the '1. ACTIVE DTC' Test Step.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 7
- CHECK THE (F203) DEF SUPPLY VOLTAGE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- Turn the engine off.
- Disconnect the SCR Relay #1 (in the Auxiliary Power Distribution Center).
- Disconnect the PCM C1 harness connector.
- Disconnect the DEF Pump C1 harness connector.
- Apply Battery voltage to the (F203) DEF Pump Supply circuit at the SCR Relay #1 terminal.
- Using a voltmeter, measure the voltage on the (F203) DEF Pump Supply circuit at the DEF Pump C1 harness connector.
Does the voltage read Battery voltage (+- 1.0 volt)?
Yes
- Replace the DEF Pump in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Repair the (F203) DEF Pump Supply circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
