Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, create a Vehicle Scan Report and attach it to the repair order.
    3. With the scan tool, read the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Go To Step  2.

      No 

  2. REPAIR THE OIL VISCOSITY ISSUE AND RESET THE OIL CHANGE INDICATOR 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Change the engine oil and filter in accordance with the service information.
    3. Perform the RESET OIL CHANGE INDICATOR Procedure. Refer to CENTER, ELECTRONIC VEHICLE INFORMATION, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
    4. Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
    5. With the scan tool, erase the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) DTCs.
    6. Cycle the ignition.

      Did the oil change Indicator Light reset?

      Yes 

      • Test Complete

      No
