Heater, Transmission: Description

The transmission heater assembly (1) is mounted to the left side of the transmission case. It is an oil-to-water heat exchanger. The purpose of the unit is to keep the transmission fluid at its optimal temperature range. The transmission heater is attached to a manifold that contains the thermal bypass valve, fittings for the transmission cooler lines, and passages for the transmission oil transfer tubes between the transmission and manifold. The transmission heater, manifold and thermal bypass valve are serviced as an assembly.
