Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. Using the scan tool, erase PCM DTCs.
    3. Perform several ignition cycles, turning the ignition off for at least 10 seconds between each ignition cycle.
    4. Start the engine and operate the vehicle through a normal drive cycle.
    5. Monitor the scan tool for PCM DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. CHECK FOR OTHER DTCS 
    1. Refer to the recorded DTCs.

      Are there any other Turbocharger Boost Actuator DTCs active or pending?

      Yes 

      • Perform the applicable diagnostic procedure(s). Refer to DTC INDEX .

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK THE TURBO BOOST ACTUATOR (F343) ASD 12-VOLT SUPPLY FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Using a test light connected to ground, check the (F343) ASD 12-Volt Supply circuit at the Turbo Boost Actuator harness connector.

      Does the test light illuminate as brightly as it does when connecting directly to the Battery?

      Yes 

      • Go To  4

      No 

      • Repair the (F343) ASD 12-Volt Supply circuit for an open/high resistance.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
  4. CHECK THE TURBO BOOST ACTUATOR (Z909) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE 
    1. Using a test light connected to Battery Voltage, check the (Z909) Ground circuit at the Turbo Boost Actuator harness connector.

      Does the test light illuminate as brightly as it does when connecting directly to the ground terminal of the Battery?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Turbocharger Boost Actuator in accordance with the service information.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
