Transfer Case Fluid Drain/Refill

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE:

The transfer case drain plug is located in the rear case. DO NOT USE THE REAR FILL HOLE. The NEW fill hole located on the right front of the transfer case housing must be used, if you fill the transfer case from the rear fill hole it will be overfilled and result in an overheat condition.

1 - OLD FILL PLUG- DO NOT USE TO FILL THE 3015c TRACKHAWK TRANSFER CASE
2 - DRAIN PLUG

1- NEW FILL HOLE FOR TRACKHAWK ONLY.
  1. Position the vehicle on a ramp type vehicle lift and prepare to lift the rear of the vehicle relative to the ramp surface.
  2. Position a drain pan under transfer case.
  3. Remove the transfer case drain plug (1) and fill (2) plug and drain lubricant completely.
  4. Install the transfer case drain plug and tighten plug to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  5. Remove the drain pan.

  6. Position a suitable jack (1) under the rear of the vehicle.

  7. If not equipped with a skid plate, use the forward portion of the transmission pan (1) as a reference plane and lift the rear of the vehicle until the pan surface is level with the ground.
  8. Once the vehicle is positioned with the drive-line angle parallel to the ground, the transfer case fill plug can be removed to check the fluid level, fill the transfer case to its correct fluid level as necessary

    Refer to CAPACITIES AND RECOMMENDED FLUIDS, SPECIFICATIONS .

    NOTE:

    The 3015c only holds 1.0L.

    NOTE:

    The transfer case must be filled to the bottom edge of the transfer case fill plug opening with the required fluid. Refer to CAPACITIES AND RECOMMENDED FLUIDS, SPECIFICATIONS .

  9. Install the transfer case fill plug and tighten to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  10. Remove the supports and lower the vehicle.
