Exhaust Manifolds

  1. Clean the sealing surfaces of the exhaust manifold (1) and cylinder head.
  2. Using a new exhaust manifold gasket. Position gasket onto the cylinder head.
  3. Loosely install the exhaust manifold bottom row of bolts (3) and tie bars (2).
  4. Using care not to damage the exhaust manifold gasket. Position the exhaust manifold onto the bolts between the gasket and the tie bars.

    NOTE:

    The studs are stainless steel and must be installed in the same location as removed.

  5. Install the exhaust manifold (2) top row of bolts (3) and stainless steel studs (1).

  6. Using the sequence shown. Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts and studs to 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).
  7. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield. Tighten nuts to 8 N.m (71 in. lbs.).

  8. Install the cylinder head. Refer to CYLINDER HEAD INSTALLATION .

  9. Connect the negative battery cable (1).
  10. Start the engine and check for leaks.
