Retainer, Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal: Removal

NOTE:

The crankshaft rear oil seal is integral to the crankshaft rear oil seal retainer and must be replaced as an assembly.

NOTE:

The crankshaft rear oil seal retainer can not be reused after removal.

NOTE:

This procedure can be performed in vehicle.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the transmission (Refer to the appropriate service information).

  3. Remove the flexplate (1). Refer to FLEXPLATE, REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the oil pan. Refer to PAN, OIL  .

  5. Using the sequence shown, remove the rear oil seal retainer mounting bolts.
  6. Remove and discard the rear oil seal retainer.
