Cover(S), Cylinder Head: Installation

CAUTION:
Do not use harsh cleaners to clean the cylinder head covers. Severe damage to covers may occur.
CAUTION:
Do not allow other components including the wire harness to rest on or against the engine cylinder head cover. Prolonged contact with other objects may wear a hole in the cylinder head cover.
NOTE:
The cylinder head cover gasket may be used again, provided no cuts, tears, or deformation have occurred.
- Clean the cylinder head cover (1) and the sealing surface of the cylinder head (2). Inspect and replace gasket if necessary.
- Install the cylinder head cover and hand start all fasteners.
- Using the sequence shown, tighten the cylinder head cover bolts to the proper specifications. Refer to INSTALLATION

- Before installing the ignition coils, apply dielectric grease to the inside of the spark plug boots (1).
- Install the ignition coils.NOTE:
Right side shown, left side similar.
- Tighten the ignition coil retaining bolts (3) to 7 N.m (62 in. lbs.).
- Position the electrical harness (2).
- Connect the ignition coil electrical connectors (1).
- If removed, Position the power steering pump onto engine and install the three pump mounting bolts (1). Tighten to 23 N.m (17 ft. lbs.).
- Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, INSTALLATION 5.7L/6.4L

- Install the engine covers (1).
- Connect the negative battery cable.
