Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
Open the liftgate (2) to access and remove the inside trim panel from the lower liftgate. Refer to PANEL, TRIM, REMOVAL .
Disconnect the two liftgate wire harness connectors (3) from the bulb socket connector receptacles on the back of the inner rear tail lamp unit (4).
Remove the four acorn nuts (1) that secure the four studs on the back of the lamp housing to the lamp opening of the liftgate.
Remove the lamp from the vehicle.
