Diagnostic Test

CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
1. Turn the ignition on.
  NOTE:
  Make sure the battery is fully charged.
2. With the scan tool, read the active ORC DTCs.
  Is the DTC: B2765-96-RIGHT C-PILLAR IMPACT ACCELERATION SENSOR - COMPONENT INTERNAL FAILURE- Active?
  
  Yes
  
  WARNING:
  Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
  
  NOTE:
  Inspect the related wiring harness for chafed, pierced, pinched, and partially broken wires. Also, inspect the related connectors for broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Repair as necessary. Recheck for active DTC B2765-96-RIGHT C-PILLAR IMPACT ACCELERATION SENSOR - COMPONENT INTERNAL FAILURE. If active go to 2 if stored then repair is complete. Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
  
  No
  - Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST .
VERIFY OPERATION OF THE RIGHT SIDE IMPACT SENSOR 2
WARNING:
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
1. Replace the Right Side Impact Sensor 2 in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to SENSOR, IMPACT, REMOVAL .
2. Reconnect the vehicle wire harness to the sensor.
3. Remove any special tools or jumper wires and reconnect all previously disconnected components - except the Battery.
4. If equipped with the standard key ignition, use this ignition on warning.
  WARNING:
  Turn the ignition on, then reconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
5. If equipped with the keyless ignition, use this ignition on warning.
  WARNING:
  Disconnect the 12-volt battery wait two minutes before proceeding, remove the ORC fuses, connect the 12-volt battery, wait two minutes before proceeding. Cycle the ignition to the On position, then reconnect the ORC fuses. Wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
6. Use the scan tool and erase the stored codes in all airbag system modules.
7. Turn the Ignition Off, and wait 15 seconds before turning the Ignition On.
8. With the scan tool, read the active ORC DTCs.
  Did the active DTC: B2765-96-RIGHT C-PILLAR IMPACT ACCELERATION SENSOR - COMPONENT INTERNAL FAILURE return?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 3.
  No
  - Repair is complete.
  - Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
WARNING:
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

WARNING:
If the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
1. Disconnect all Occupant Restraint Controller(ORC) harness connectors.
2. Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
3. Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
4. Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
  - Proper connector installation.
  - Damaged connector locks.
  - Corrosion.
  - Other signs of water intrusion.
  - Weather seal damage (if equipped).
  - Bent terminals.
  - Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
  - Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
  - Check for spread terminals and verify proper terminal tension.
  Repair any conditions that are found.
5. Connect all Occupant Restraint Controller(ORC) harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
6. Connect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
7. Connect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
8. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
9. Test drive or operate the vehicle in accordance with the when monitored and set conditions.
10. With the scan tool, read DTCs.
  Did the DTC return?
  
  Yes
  - Replace and program the Occupant Restraint Controller in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER, REMOVAL .
  - Perform the VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - The wiring or poor connection problem has been repaired.
  - Perform the Occupant Restraint Controller VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
