Diagnosis And Testing - Power Seat System
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Jeep Cherokee. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
For complete circuit diagrams, see Wiring Information. Wiring Information includes wiring diagrams, connector pin-out and location views and splice and ground locations.
Operate the power seat switches and power lumbar support switch. Move the seat, seat back and power lumbar support in all directions. The seat and lumbar support should move in each of the selected directions. If any of the power seat and/or lumbar support motors fail to operate in more than one direction, proceed as follows:
- Inspect the power seat and power lumbar motor to make sure the electrical connectors are fully connected to the motor. If OK, go to Step 2. If not OK, reconnect the electrical connector(s).
- Check the power seat fuse in the Power Distribution Center (PDC). If OK, go to Step 3. If not OK, replace the fuse. If the fuse continues to open, check the power seat wiring for a short to ground.
- Remove the power seat switch and/or power lumbar switch from the seat cushion side panel. Check for battery voltage at the fused B(+) circuit cavity of the switch wire harness connector. If OK, go to Step 4. If not OK, repair the open circuit as required.
- Check for continuity between the ground circuit cavity of the power seat switch and/or power lumbar switch wire harness connector and a good ground. There should be continuity. If OK, go to Step 5. If not OK, repair the open circuit to ground as required.
- Test the power seat switch or the power lumbar switch and. Refer to SWITCH, SEAT, DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING . Refer to SWITCH, LUMBAR CONTROL, DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING . If the switch tests OK, check the wire harness between the switch and the motor(s). If the circuits check OK, replace the inoperative power seat track, seat back frame or lumbar support. Refer to TRACK, POWER FRONT, REMOVAL . Refer to SUPPORT, LUMBAR, FRONT, REMOVAL . If the circuits are not OK, repair the wire harness as required.
