Diagnostic Test

CHECK IF THE DTC IS ACTIVE
NOTE:
Diagnose and repair all active Bus related Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) including Lost Communication DTCs before diagnosing this DTC.
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Using a scan tool, record and erase Comfort Seat Wheel Module (CSWM) DTCs.
3. Cycle the ignition off to on.
4. Using a scan tool, read DTCs CSWM.
  Is the same DTC active?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 2
  No
  - The conditions that caused this DTC to set are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors. Look for chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires and broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Attempt to reproduce condition by rotating the steering wheel.
  - Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
CHECK THE HEATED STEERING WHEEL TEMPERATURE SENSOR
WARNING:
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
1. Remove the Driver Airbag in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to AIR BAG, DRIVER, REMOVAL .
2. Disconnect the Heated Steering Wheel (HSW) C1 harness connector.
  NOTE:
  Before proceeding, thoroughly inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the HSW and the Left EVIC Switch. Look for chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires and broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals.
  
  WARNING:
  Turn the ignition on, then reconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
3. Measure the voltage between the (C92) Heated Steering Wheel Signal circuit and the (Z92) Ground circuit at the HSW C1 harness connector.
  Is the voltage above 3.5 volts?
  
  Yes
  - Replace the Heated Steering Wheel (HSW) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to WHEEL, STEERING, REMOVAL .
  - Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Go To 3
CHECK THE (C92) HEATED STEERING WHEEL SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
WARNING:
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
1. Disconnect the Left EVIC Switch harness connector.
2. Measure the resistance of the (C92) Heated Steering Wheel Signal circuit between the HSW C1 harness connector and the Left EVIC Switch harness connector.
  Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 4
  Yes
  - Repair the (C92) Heated Steering Wheel Signal circuit for an open.
  - Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
CHECK THE (C92) HEATED STEERING WHEEL SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Check for continuity between ground and the (C92) Heated Steering Wheel Signal circuit at the HSW C1 harness connector.
  Is there continuity between ground and the (C92) Heated Steering Wheel Signal circuit?
  
  Yes
  - Repair the (C92) Heated Steering Wheel Signal circuit for a short to ground.
  - Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Go To 5
CHECK THE (Z92) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Measure the resistance of the (Z92) Ground Circuit between the Heated Steering Wheel C1 harness connector and the Left EVIC Switch harness connector.
  Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 6
  No
  - Repair the (Z92) Ground Circuit for an open.
  - Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
CHECK THE LEFT EVIC SWITCH
1. Replace the Left EVIC Switch in accordance with the Service Information.
2. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  Does this DTC reset performing the Body Verification Test?
  
  Yes
  - Replace the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, STEERING COLUMN CONTROL (SCCM), REMOVAL .
  - Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Test complete.
