Diagnostic Test

CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
NOTE:
Make sure the battery is fully charged.
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read ORC active DTCs.
  Is the DTC active?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 2
  No
  - Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST .
CHECK FOR ACTIVE INTERNAL FAULTS, IGNITION FAULTS, AND BATTERY FAULTS IN THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC)
1. With the scan tool, read Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) DTCs.
  Does the scan tool display any active DTCs relating to internal faults, ignition faults, or battery faults?
  
  Yes
  - Diagnose and repair the DTCs. Refer to OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC) - DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX .
  No
  - Go To 3
INSPECT DRIVER SEAT HARNESS WIRES AND CONNECTORS
WARNING:
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
1. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the driver seat harness wiring and connectors. Look for chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires and broken, bent, pushed out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals.
  Are any of these conditions present?
  
  Yes
  
  NOTE:
  Do not attempt to repair the Seat Harness. Replace the Seat Harness if the condition inspecting or testing for is present in the Seat Harness.
  - Replace the driver seat harness in accordance with the Service Information.
  - Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST .
  No
  - Go To 4
VERIFY THAT DRIVER SEAT HARNESS IS ROUTED CORRECTLY
1. Verify that the driver seat harness is routed correctly.
  Is the Driver Seat Harness routed correctly?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 5
  No
  - Reroute the driver seat harness as necessary.
  - Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
CHECK FOR DTC B00C5-12-PASSENGER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR - CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY WITH DRIVER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR DISCONNECTED
WARNING:
Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
1. Disconnect the Driver Seat Track Position Sensor harness connector.
2. If the vehicle is equipped with the standard key ignition, follow this ignition on warning.
  WARNING:
  Turn the ignition on, then reconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
3. If the vehicle is equipped with the keyless ignition, follow this ignition on warning.
  WARNING:
  Disconnect the 12-volt battery wait two minutes before proceeding, remove the ORC fuses, connect the 12-volt battery, wait two minutes before proceeding. Cycle the ignition to the On position, then reconnect the ORC fuses. Wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
4. Wait two minutes, and then with the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.
  Does the scan tool display: B00C5-12-PASSENGER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR - CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 6
  No
  
  WARNING:
  Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
  - Replace the Driver Seat Track Position Sensor in accordance with the service information. Refer to SENSOR, SEAT TRACK POSITION, REMOVAL .
  - Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
CHECK (R730) PASSENGER SEAT DETECTION RETURN CIRCUIT AND (R264) PASSENGER SEAT POSITION SENSOR VOLTAGE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
WARNING:
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
1. Disconnect the ORC harness connectors.
2. If the vehicle is equipped with the standard key ignition, follow this ignition on warning.
  WARNING:
  Turn the ignition on, then reconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
3. If the vehicle is equipped with the keyless ignition, follow this ignition on warning.
  WARNING:
  Disconnect the 12-volt battery wait two minutes before proceeding, remove the ORC fuses, connect the 12-volt battery, wait two minutes before proceeding. Cycle the ignition to the On position, then reconnect the ORC fuses. Wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
4. Measure the voltage of the (R730) Passenger Seat Detection Return circuit at the Passenger Seat Track Position Sensor connector cavity 1.
5. Measure the voltage of the (R264) Passenger Seat Position Sensor Voltage circuit at the Passenger Seat Track Position Sensor connector cavity 2.
  Is the voltage above 0.2 volt on either circuit?
  
  Yes
  
  NOTE:
  Do not attempt to repair the Seat Harness. Replace the Seat Harness if the condition inspecting or testing for is present in the Seat Harness.
  
  WARNING:
  Turn the ignition off, disconnect the battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
  - Replace the Driver Seat Harness in accordance with the Service Information.
  - Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Go To 7
CHECK (R730) PASSENGER SEAT DETECTION RETURN CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO THE (R264) PASSENGER SEAT POSITION SENSOR VOLTAGE CIRCUIT
WARNING:
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
1. Measure the resistance between the (R730) Passenger Seat Detection Return circuit cavity 1 and the (R264) Passenger Seat Position Sensor Voltage circuit cavity 2 in the Passenger Seat Track Position Sensor harness connector.
  Is the resistance below 10K Ohms?
  
  Yes
  
  NOTE:
  Do not attempt to repair the Seat Harness. Replace the Seat Harness if the condition inspecting or testing for is present in the Seat Harness.
  - Replace the Driver Seat Harness in accordance with the service information.
  - Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
  No
  - Replace the ORC in accordance with the Service information. Refer to MODULE, OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER, REMOVAL .
  - Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
