Switch, Electric Park Brake: Description

All vehicles are equipped with a center-mounted, Electric Park Brake (EPB) switch mounted between the front seats.

The EPB switch is a three-position switch that can be pulled up to apply or pressed down to release. The switch communicates with the EPB module through hard-wired circuits. The switch housing also includes an indicator to let the driver know when the parking brake is applied. If the vehicle is turned off, the indicator will extinguish after ten seconds.

CAUTION:

If the Electric Park Brake (EPB) switch is actuated with the caliper removed from the caliper bracket and still connected electrically, the EPB motor will fully extend causing damage to the caliper piston. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable before servicing any EPB component.
