Actuator, Electric Park Brake: Installation

NOTE:

Using an appropriate lubricant, lightly lubricate the O-ring on the body of the new Electric Park Brake (EPB) actuator before installing it.

  1. Position the EPB actuator (1) to the brake caliper and install the two Electric Park Brake (EPB) Actuator bolts (2). Tighten to the proper torque. Refer to TORQUE  .

  2. Connect the EPB wire harness connector (1).
  3. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
  5. Using the EPB switch, release the EPB, followed by an EPB apply and then another EPB release. Only in that order, even if the EPB is already in the released state. This will make sure the new actuator is working, recognized by the EPB module and there is correlation between the left and right sides.
