Actuator, Electric Park Brake: Description

CAUTION:
If the Electric Park Brake (EPB) switch is actuated with the caliper removed from the caliper bracket and still connected electrically, the EPB motor will fully extend causing damage to the caliper piston. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable before servicing any EPB component.
The electromechanical motor gear units (1) attach directly to the conventional hydraulic rear brake calipers with two fasteners and provide clamp load through the caliper transferred to the brake rotor.
NOTE:
If the EPB actuator is found to be defective or needs to be replaced, it can only be replaced as an assembly. There are no serviceable parts inside and is non-repairable.
