Pads, Brake, Rear: Removal

The Electric Park Brake (EPB) actuator must be retracted prior to removing the brake caliper assembly. This can be done in two ways:

A diagnostic scan tool (Service Mode position)
Through Uconnect

CAUTION:

Do not manually retract the Electric Park Brake (EPB) caliper piston or damage may occur.

CAUTION:

If the Electric Park Brake (EPB) switch is actuated with the caliper removed from the caliper bracket and still connected electrically, the EPB motor will fully extend causing damage to the caliper piston. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable before servicing any EPB component.

Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
Remove the wheel mounting bolts, then the rear tire and wheel assembly.

Remove the nut and brake line bracket (2).

While holding guide pins from turning, remove caliper guide pin bolts (3).
Slide and remove the disc brake caliper (1) from the disc brake adapter bracket.

Remove the brake pads (2), (3) from the caliper adapter bracket.
