Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. With the scan tool, read Radio DTCs and record on the repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. Turn the Radio on.
    5. With the scan tool, read Radio DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Test complete. The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  2. CHECK THE (X970) AND (X971) AND RADIO CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE IN THE HARNESS 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Radio harness connectors.
    3. Disconnect the Camera harness connector.
    4. Turn the ignition on.
    5. Check for voltage present on the (X970) and (X971) and Camera circuits.

      Is there any voltage present?

      Yes 

      • Repair the Camera circuit with the short to voltage.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK THE (X970) AND (X971) CAMERA CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND IN THE HARNESS 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Radio harness C1 connector.
    3. Disconnect the Camera harness connector.
    4. Turn the ignition on.
    5. Check for continuity between ground and the (X970) and (X971) and Camera circuits at the Radio harness C1 connector.

      Is there continuity between ground and the (X970) and (X971) Camera circuits?

      Yes 

      • Repair the Camera circuit with the short to ground.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. CHECK THE (X970) AND (X971) CAMERA CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TOGETHER 
    1. Disconnect the Radio harness connector.
    2. Check for continuity between the (X970) and (X971) and Camera circuits at the Radio C1 harness connector.

      Is there continuity between the (X970) and (X971) and Camera circuits?

      Yes 

      • Repair the Camera circuits that are shorted together.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  5
  5. CHECK THE (X970) AND (X971) CAMERA CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN IN THE HARNESS 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Measure the resistance of the (X970) and (X971) Camera circuits between the Camera harness connector and the Radio C1 harness connector.

      Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Backup Camera in accordance with the service information.
      • Go To  6

      No 

      • Repair the Camera circuit with the open.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
  6. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. Turn the Radio on.
    3. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      No 

      • The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension If no problems are found, test complete.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
