Switch, Remote Radio: Operation

The six switches in the two remote radio switch units are normally open, resistor multiplexed momentary switches that are hard wired to the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) through the left side Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) switch on the steering wheel. The radio sends a reference signal to both switch units over the Controller Area Network - Chassis (CAN-C) bus to the SCCM, which is then sent through the EVIC switch over a Local Interface Network (LIN) bus, and then the radio senses the status of all of the switches by reading the voltage drop on a second circuit.

For diagnosis of the radio switches the use of a scan tool and the proper Diagnostic Procedure information is recommended.
