Diagnostic Test

CHECK FOR THE FOLLOWING
| POSSIBLE CAUSE | CORRECTION |

| UNDERCHARGED BATTERY | Test the Battery in accordance with the service information. Use the GR8-1220KIT-CHRY - AGM Battery Tester/Charger Station (Originally Shipped In Kit Number(s) GR8-1220KIT-CHRY.) or equivalent to load test the Battery. |
| POWERTRAIN POWER AND GROUND CIRCUIT(S) OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE | Using a 12-volt test light, check all of the PCM B+, ignition feed and ground circuits.
NOTE:
The test light must be illuminated and bright. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the Battery. |
| POWERTRAIN FUSES OPEN | Inspect all fuses. If any open fuses are found, check the related circuit(s) for a short to ground or high resistance. |
| FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM |
NOTE:
Perform the CHECKING THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM test procedure. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING .Verify that the fuel tank is not empty before continuing. |
| FUEL CONTAMINATION OR EXCESSIVE ETHANOL | Check the fuel system for proper ethanol level or contamination in accordance with the service information. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING . |
| INADEQUATE SPARK | Verify that the ignition system is operating properly. |
| ENGINE MECHANICAL PROBLEM | Perform the diagnostic procedure for CHECKING THE ENGINE MECHANICAL SYSTEM. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING . |
| (If equipped with MultiAir Engine) INSUFFICIENT QUANTITY OF ENGINE OIL IN THE VARIABLE VALVE ACTUATION ASSEMBLY DUE TO:

Operate the starter to fill the Variable Valve Actuation Assembly with oil and enable its operation. Hold the Accelerator Pedal wide open during cranking to cut off fuel to avoid flooding. After the first few cycles, release the Accelerator Pedal to allow fuel for engine starting. CAUTION: Do not exceed 20 seconds of starter operation during one cycle and allow 60 seconds cool-down between cycles. |
