Outer Tie Rod End

NOTE:

When unscrewing the outer tie rod from inner, count the number of revolutions to take it off. This action will aid in installation, getting the toe close to where it needs to be when setting the wheel alignment.

Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
Remove the front wheel mounting bolts and remove the front wheel.
Loosen the tie rod adjuster jam nut (4) from the tie rod end (1).
Remove the outer tie rod to knuckle nut (2) from the outer tie rod end (1) Discard the nut; it is not to be reused.
Separate the outer tie rod end (1) from the knuckle (3) using (special tool #C-3894-A, Puller, Tie Rod) and remove from the inner tie rod.
