Diagnostic Test

CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
NOTE:
The PCM tests the Throttle Body Assembly by opening and closing the Throttle Body plate before starting the engine.
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read DTCs and record the related Freeze Frame data.
  Is the DTC active or pending?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 2
  No
  - Test Complete.
    NOTE:
    This DTC sets in extreme cold Ambient Temperatures with the throttle plate stuck by the time the vehicle gets to the dealership the condition may be corrected.
CHECK THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY FOR MECHANICAL OBSTRUCTIONS
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Remove the Air Cleaner Assembly from the Throttle Body.
3. Inspect for any signs of coking or a foreign material (ice or dirt) on the Throttle Plate or in the bore causing the Throttle Plate to stick. Turn the ignition on and use the scan tool to actuate the Throttle Plate and check for any sticking.
  Were any signs of foreign material or scoring of the Throttle Plate or bore found?
  
  Yes
  - Clean the throttle blade and bore if possible or replace the Throttle Body Assembly in accordance with the Service Information if necessary. Refer to THROTTLE BODY, REMOVAL .
  - Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST, 2.4L .
  No
  - Go To 3
CHECK THE THROTTLE BODY HARNESS CONNECTOR FOR DAMAGE OR POOR FIT
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the Throttle Body harness connector.
3. Check the connector for a damaged locking tab and any corroded, pushed out, spread or damaged terminals that can cause an intermittent connection.
  Were any problems found?
  
  Yes
  - Repair the Throttle Body connector or wiring.
  - Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST, 2.4L .
  No
  - Replace the Throttle Body Assembly in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to THROTTLE BODY, REMOVAL . Disconnect the Battery when replacing the Throttle Body Assembly. After installation is complete, use a scan tool and perform the ETC RELEARN function.
  - Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST, 2.4L .
