Breather, Closed Crankcase Ventilation (CCV): Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to the appropriate service article.
  3. Remove the right front half shaft. Refer to REMOVAL .

  4. Disconnect the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor wire harness connector (1).
  5. Remove the lover CCV tube bolt (2).

  6. Remove the CCV housing lower bolt (1).
  7. Remove the starter (2). Refer to STARTER, REMOVAL .

  8. Using (special tool #10288, Pliers, Hose Clamp) (1), remove clamp and disconnect the CCV hose (2) from the CCV housing (4).
  9. Remove the bolt (3) the CCV housing from engine block.
  10. Carefully pull up on the lower tube and remove it from the oil pan.
