Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU): Description: Notes

The Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) is mounted to the Anti-lock Brake Module (ABM) as part of the Integrated Control Unit (ICU). The HCU controls the flow of brake fluid to the brakes using a series of valves and accumulators. A pump/motor is mounted on the HCU to empty the accumulators during an ABS stop and supply build pressure to the brakes during a traction control or ESC event. If the HCU needs replacement it is removed as an assembly with the ABM and then disassembled. Refer to INTEGRATED CONTROL UNIT (ICU), REMOVAL .
