Valve, A/C Expansion: Removal

WARNING:

Review the warnings and cautions for this system before performing the procedure. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  3. Remove the nut (1) and the A/C liquid and A/C suction line (3) manifold from the A/C expansion valve.
  4. Remove and discard the seals.

  5. Remove the two bolts (2) and the A/C expansion valve (1) from the evaporator.
  6. Remove and discard the O-ring seals.
  7. Install plugs in, or tape over, the opened refrigerant line fittings and evaporator ports.
  8. If necessary, remove the insulating foam from the expansion valve.
