Removal - 3.2L

  1. Remove the engine cover.
  2. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Remove the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL (PCM), REMOVAL .

  4. Remove the nut that secures the suction/discharge line to the Internal Heat Exchanger (IHX) (2).
  5. Remove and discard the washer seal.
  6. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened refrigerant line fittings and ports.
  7. Remove the bolt (1) that secures the IHX bracket to the engine.

  8. Remove the nuts (3) and disconnect the discharge line (1) and liquid line (2) from the IHX.
  9. Remove and discard the washer seal.
  10. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened refrigerant line fittings and ports.

  11. Remove the nuts (1) securing the coolant tube (2) and reposition the tube to gain clearance.

  12. Remove the bolt (1) securing the IHX manifold (2) to the bracket.
  13. Remove the Catalytic Converter. Refer to CONVERTER, CATALYTIC, REMOVAL .

  14. Remove the nut (1) securing the IHX bracket (2).

  15. Remove the bolt (1) securing the IHX manifold (2) to the A/C compressor (3) and detach the manifold from the compressor.
  16. Remove and discard the washer seals and install plugs in, or tape over the opened line fittings and ports.
  17. Remove the IHX from the engine compartment.
