Installation - 3.2L

CAUTION:

Be certain to adjust the refrigerant oil level when servicing the A/C refrigerant system. Failure to properly adjust the refrigerant oil level will prevent the A/C system from operating as designed and can cause serious A/C compressor damage.

NOTE:

When replacing multiple A/C system components, refer to the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to determine how much oil should be added to the refrigerant system. Refer to OIL, REFRIGERANT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

NOTE:

Replacement of the refrigerant line washer seals is required anytime a refrigerant line is opened. Failure to replace the washer seals could result in a refrigerant system leak.

  1. Position the discharge/liquid line assembly into the engine compartment.
  2. Install the bolt (2) securing the service port (1) and tighten to the proper torque. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Connect the wire harness connector (3) to the pressure switch.

  4. Remove the tape or plugs from the line fittings and ports.
  5. Lubricate a new washer seal with clean refrigerant oil and install. Use only the specified washer seals as it is made of a special material for the system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the vehicle.
  6. Install the bolt (2) securing the discharge line to the A/C condenser and tighten the bolt to the proper torque. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  7. Install the bolt (3) securing the liquid line to the A/C condenser and tighten the bolt to the proper torque. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  8. Install the line bracket bolt (1) and tighten the bolt to the proper torque. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  9. Install the right side radiator air deflector.
  10. Install the upper radiator close out panel.
  11. Install the engine belly pan.

  12. Attach the discharge line (1) and liquid line (2) to the Internal Heat Exchanger (IHX) and tighten nuts (3) to the proper torque. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  13. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector to the negative battery cable.
    CAUTION:

    Do NOT run the engine with a vacuum pump in operation or with a vacuum present within the A/C system. Failure to follow this caution will result in serious A/C compressor damage.

  14. Evacuate the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  15. Adjust the refrigerant oil level. Refer to OIL, REFRIGERANT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  16. Charge the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
