Installation - Jumper Line

CAUTION:

Be certain to adjust the refrigerant oil level when servicing the A/C refrigerant system. Failure to properly adjust the refrigerant oil level will prevent the A/C system from operating as designed and can cause serious A/C compressor damage.

CAUTION:

The A/C liquid line must be replaced if an internal failure of the A/C compressor has occurred. Failure to replace the A/C liquid line can prevent the A/C system from operating as designed and can cause serious A/C compressor damage.

NOTE:

When replacing multiple A/C system components, refer to the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to determine how much oil should be added to the refrigerant system. Refer to OIL, REFRIGERANT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

NOTE:

Replacement of the refrigerant line O-ring seals and gaskets is required anytime a refrigerant line is opened. Failure to replace the washer seals could result in a refrigerant system leak.

  1. Remove the tape or plugs from the refrigerant line fittings and the condenser ports.
  2. Lubricate the new washer seals with clean refrigerant oil and install the washer seals onto the liquid and suction line fittings. Use only the specified washer seals as they are made of special materials compatible to the system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.

  3. Slide the jumper line junction block (1) into the retaining slot (2) in the radiator.

  4. Install the bolts securing the jumper lines to the condenser and tighten the bolts (1) to the proper torque. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

  5. Install the lower closeout panel (2) and securely tighten the fasteners (1).

  6. Install the A/C discharge (3) and liquid line (1) to the jumper line junction block (1) and tighten the nut to the proper torque. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

  7. Install the service port bracket (1) and tighten the bolt (1) to the proper torque. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  8. Evacuate the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  9. Adjust the refrigerant oil level. Refer to OIL, REFRIGERANT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  10. Charge the A/C system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
