Removal - 2.0L, 2.2L, 2.4L

WARNING:
Review the warnings and cautions for this system before performing the procedure. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death.
CAUTION:
The A/C condenser and receiver/drier must be replaced as an assembly if an internal failure of the A/C compressor has occurred. Failure to replace the A/C condenser and receiver/drier can cause serious damage to the replacement A/C compressor.
NOTE:
The A/C compressor may be removed and repositioned without disconnecting the refrigerant lines or discharging the refrigerant system. Discharging is not necessary if servicing the A/C clutch, clutch coil or engine.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL
.
- Remove nut (2) and the A/C discharge line/suction line manifold (1) from the A/C compressor.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seals.
- Install tape or plugs into the opened refrigerant line fittings and the compressor ports.
- Disconnect the A/C compressor high pressure switch wire harness connector (1).
- Disconnect the A/C compressor clutch wire harness connector (1) and detach the wire harness from the A/C compressor.
- Remove the bolts (1) and the A/C compressor (2).
