Manifold, Intake: Installation

  1. Clean all gasket surfaces.
  2. Replace intake manifold gasket seals.
  3. Position the foam pad over the coolant transfer tube.
  4. Position the manifold onto the two studs.
  5. Install the intake manifold and tighten the fasteners (1 & 2) to 12 N.m (9 ft. lbs.).

  6. Connect the vacuum hoses at the intake manifold (3).

  7. Install the intake manifold silencer cover and screws (1). Tighten the screws (1) to 2.5 N.m (22 in. lbs.).

  8. Connect and lock the four VVAA solenoid wire harness connectors.
  9. Connect and lock the fuel injector wire harness connectors (1).

  10. Install the injector silencer pad (3) over the fuel rail.
  11. Connect fuel line (1) to the fuel rail. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  12. Connect the purge vapor line (2).
  13. Engage intake manifold wire harness retainers.

  14. Move the right side of the engine rearward back into its proper position. Make sure the mount is not against the frame while being moved. 
  15. Install the two right engine mount to frame rail bolts (2).
  16. Install the right engine mount to strut tower bolt (4).
  17. Tighten the right engine mount to strut tower bolt to 65 N.m (48 ft. lbs.).
  18. Tighten the two right engine mount to frame rail bolts to 105 N.m (77 ft. lbs.).

  19. Install the pressurized coolant bottle (3). Tighten the bolts (4) to 8 N.m (70 in. lbs.).

  20. Install the air cleaner body bracket (1) with two nuts (2).
  21. Tighten the nuts (2) to 8 N.m (70 in. lbs.).

  22. Install the throttle body (3) to the intake manifold.
  23. Install the three throttle body screws (1) and one throttle body bolt (2). Tighten all to 8 N.m (71 in. lbs.).

  24. Install the throttle body support bracket (2). Tighten the fasteners (1 and 3) to 8 N.m (71 in. lbs.).

  25. Install the intake manifold support bracket (3). Install the two nuts (1) and one bolt (2). Tighten to 9 N.m (80 in. lbs.).

  26. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  27. Install a new gasket (5) and loosely install the cross-under pipe to catalytic converter outlet flange nuts (4).
  28. Loosely install the cross-under pipe support bolt (3).
  29. Tighten the cross-under pipe flange nuts to 19 N.m (14 ft. lbs.).
  30. Tighten the cross-under pipe support bolt to 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).
  31. Install the belly pan, if removed.
  32. Install the front and rear skid plates, if removed.

  33. Connect and lock the MAP sensor wire harness connector (2).
  34. Engage the wire harness to the manifold eyelets (1).
  35. Install the air cleaner resonator. .
  36. Install the air cleaner body. Refer to INSTALLATION  .
  37. Install the cowl plenum panel and cowl plenum extension. Refer to COVER, COWL PANEL, INSTALLATION .
  38. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.

  39. Install the engine cover (1) to the ball studs (2).
