Cooler, Oil: Removal

NOTE:

The oil cooler can not be cleaned out. In the event that the engine requires rebuilding or replacement, the oil cooler should be replaced. If the repair or replacement of the engine was due to internal damage, the oil cooler MUST be replaced.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Remove the front skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, TRANSMISSION, REMOVAL .
  3. Drain the engine oil. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE  .
  4. Drain the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  5. Using a suitable oil filter wrench, remove the oil filter (1).

  6. Remove the three bolts (5) and the oil cooler heat shield (4).
  7. Remove the coolant inlet (2) and outlet (3) hoses.

  8. Remove the oil cooler connector bolt (1) and the oil cooler.
  9. Remove and discard the oil cooler seal.
