Seal, Axle Drive Shaft, Outer: Installation

- Using a clean lint free cloth, wipe the seal cavity clean of oil and debris.
- Inspect the seal bore for scratches or cracks. If damage is evident replace the PTU.
- Place the new lip seal (1) in position on the PTU housing (2).
- Using tool (special tool #9684, Installer, Seal) (2) and (special tool #C-4171, Driver Handle, Universal) (3), install the new seal in the PTU housing (1).
- Install the right side halfshaft. Refer to INSTALLATION .
- Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
- Fill the PTU with the proper fluid.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Road test the vehicle to verify the repair.
