Input Shaft Seal Installation

- Clean the seal bore in the center of the bellhousing.
- Apply assembly lube on the lip of the NEW
seal to avoid damage during installation.
- Place the seal on tool (special tool #9677, Installer, Seal) (2), with the tension spring away from the tool, and insert the seal into the bore in the bellhousing.
- Using a suitable hammer, drive the seal into the bore in the center of the bellhousing until the tool (2) seats against the bellhousing (1).
- Install the torque converter.
- Install the transmission in the vehicle. Refer to INSTALLATION .
- Fill the transmission to the proper level with the specified fluid. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURES .
- Road test the vehicle to verify the repair.
