Actuator, Fuel Door: Description

An electronically actuated fuel door release mechanism is standard equipment in this vehicle. A striker on the fuel door is engaged by a latch and actuator mechanism (2) integral to the fuel filler housing located behind the fuel door opening of the outer quarter panel. The actuator mechanism is operated by an electronic solenoid that is also integral to the fuel filler housing. A short wire harness connected to the solenoid passes through a rubber grommet and a hole in the body sheet metal into the trunk compartment along with a mechanical emergency release cable (1). The solenoid is connected to the vehicle electrical system through a dedicated take out and connector of the body wire harness located on the right side of the trunk.
