Standard Procedure - Sunshade Re-TENSIONING

NOTE:
This procedure in only necessary in the event that the sunshade spring tension has been unwound. If the spring tension is not locked as defined in the sunshade removal/install procedure, the spring will unwind when the sunshade assembly is removed from the sunroof frame and the below procedure must be followed to rewind it. Service sunshade assemblies come with the sunshade spring properly wound and locked, it is not necessary to use this procedure prior to installing a new service sunshade assembly.
- Review the re-tensioning video for greater detail.
- Make sure the sunshade is completely unwound. Install the rectangle shaft of the sunshade into a vise and secure.
- Rotate the sunshade counter-clockwise 7 complete rotations.
- Using a larger sized paper clip or similar, rotate the sunshade slightly counter-clockwise until the pin (3) can be inserted fully through the hole (1 and 2) at the end of the sunshade shaft, locking the tension spring.
- Remove it from vise. If the locking ping was not properly installed, the spring will unwind upon removal from the vise and the complete procedure will need to be repeated.
