Handle, Exterior: Removal

NOTE:
Do not use power tools when loosening the screw (2).
Carefully loosen the screw (2) while lightly pulling on the door handle cap. Only loosen enough so the door handle cap can be removed.
The threads will be damaged if turned beyond the stop point.
Door handle bracket shown removed from the door for clarity.
- Remove the outside handle access plug from door jamb.
- Using a suitable tool (1), turn the screw (2) counter clockwise to move the slide plate (3) rearward in the outside door handle bracket (4). Carefully loosen the screw (2) while lightly pulling on the door handle cap.
- Lift the exterior door handle to the open position.
- Continue holding the exterior handle in the open position and remove the door handle cap (1).
- Slide the exterior door handle (1) rearward and rotate out of the door.
- Remove the handle from the vehicle.
