Signal Lamp

Vehicles equipped with the optional signal lamps (2) located in the outside rear view mirrors (1) have two Light Emitting Diode (LED) units that illuminate an optic light pipe through a clear lens on the lower, forward and outboard facing surfaces of the mirror shell. Illumination of these lamps is coordinated with the illumination of the turn signals for the same side of the vehicle.

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the mirror glass and case unit from the outside rear view mirror. Refer to MIRROR, OUTSIDE REARVIEW, GLASS, REMOVAL .
3. Remove the puddle lamp from the outside rear view mirror. Refer to LAMP, MIRROR, REMOVAL .
4. Remove the three screws (2) that secure the mirror bezel and housing unit (1) to both the mirror shell and the mirror arm.
5. Insert two flat-bladed screwdrivers into the two holes (3) in the upper inboard corner of the mirror housing and push the screwdriver handles away from each other to pry the two latch features of the housing toward each other far enough to disengage the housing latch features from the mirror shell.
6. Remove the mirror bezel and housing unit from the mirror shell and the mirror arm.

7. Disengage the tab (3) that secures the inboard end of the mirror shell (1) to the notch in the inboard end of the mirror arm (2).

8. From within the outboard end of the mirror shell, carefully pry the mounting tab (3) of the signal lamp (4) housing away from the face of the mounting pocket formation (1) integral to the interior of the mirror shell until it disengages from the locating rib (6) with a light audible snap.
9. Slide the mirror shell mounting pocket formation off of the outboard end of the mirror arm (2).
10. From outside of the mirror shell, press the inboard end of the signal lamp lens into the interior of the shell.
11. Press the outboard end of the signal lamp inboard far enough to disengage the two lamp mounting tabs (5) from the lamp mounting tab receptacle loops integral to the outboard end of the mirror shell interior.
12. Set the mirror shell aside.

13. Disconnect the mirror wire harness connector (2) from the connector receptacle (4) integral to the signal lamp housing (1).
14. Remove the signal lamp from the mirror arm (3).
