Section 17 (Charging System (Service Information)): Generator: Removal: 2.4L

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the engine cover.

  3. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL .

  4. Remove the two forward A/C compressor mounting bolts (1).
  5. Loosen the inner A/C compressor mounting bolt (2) enough to allow the A/C compressor and lines to pivot downward allowing full access to the lower generator mounting bolts.

  6. Disconnect the field generator harness connector (3).
  7. Remove the B+ cable from the generator stud (2).
  8. Remove the upper generator bolt (1).
  9. Remove the lower generator bolts (4).
