Switch, Exterior Handle: Installation

  1. Position the power liftgate exterior handle (3) and switch into the liftgate outer panel (1) latch handle pocket as a unit. Be certain not to pinch the exterior handle switch pigtail wire (4) between the handle housing and the liftgate outer panel.
  2. Install and tighten the two nuts (2) that secure the two studs on the back of the handle housing to the inside of the liftgate outer panel. Tighten the nuts securely.
  3. Reconnect the power liftgate exterior handle switch pigtail wire connector to the liftgate wire harness connector.
  4. Reinstall the power liftgate latch onto the liftgate. Refer to LATCH, LIFTGATE, INSTALLATION .
  5. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector to the negative battery cable.
